Verbal Consent Script
The following script is read by the church administrator to each volunteer before their phone number is added to SabbathFlow:
“[Church Name] would like to send you text messages (SMS) from SabbathFlow with service role reminders and a secure link to complete your service preparation form. Message frequency is 1–2 texts per service. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Do you agree to receive these text messages?”
Consent is confirmed by the administrator checking an explicit SMS consent checkbox inside the SabbathFlow app before saving the volunteer's phone number. No number is added without this step being completed.
Example Consent Conversation
The following demonstrates how the administrator obtains consent in person:
"Hi Maria, we use SabbathFlow to send service role reminders by text message. Would it be okay if the system sends you an SMS reminder before each Sabbath you're assigned, with a link to fill out your preparation form?"
"Yes, that works for me."
"Great. Just so you know, you'll get 1–2 texts per service, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. I'll add your number now."
How consent is recorded and stored
After obtaining verbal consent, the administrator must check the following explicit confirmation inside the SabbathFlow app before the phone number is saved:
“I confirm that this leader has explicitly agreed to receive text messages (SMS) from SabbathFlow, including service role reminders and form links. Message frequency is 1–2 per service. They can reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe.”
This checkbox is required — the form cannot be submitted without it. The consent status and timestamp are stored securely in the SabbathFlow database and associated with the leader's record.
How to opt out
Volunteers can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message. They will receive one confirmation message and no further messages will be sent. The administrator can also revoke consent directly in the SabbathFlow app, which immediately disables SMS reminders for that leader.
Opt-in confirmation message
After a volunteer is added and consent is recorded, they receive the following confirmation text:
“You're confirmed to receive text messages (SMS) from SabbathFlow with service role reminders. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”
What we do not send
SabbathFlow does not send marketing messages, promotions, or messages to the general public. All messages are strictly limited to service role reminders sent to opted-in church volunteers.
Privacy
Your phone number is stored securely and is never shared with or sold to third parties. It is used solely to send service reminders within your congregation.
